COVID-19: The Journey. Chapter 4: Haircut!
Haircut!
Father's Day and social distancing on the patio.
More than 12 wagon-loads of weeds were pulled out of lake by our dock.
The neighborhood signs were cleaned, repainted and waxed.
Both Bakers started June by getting a hair cut. It was such a relief! Here's the blog I wrote about the experience (https://bakersheartbeat.blogspot.com/2020/06/june-3-was-red-letter-day-for-hair.html).
As the president of the neighborhood association, I organized an effort to get the main signs cleaned, repainted to an extent, and waxed. That continued with volunteer help for the first three weeks of June.
We launched two home improvement projects: New window blinds, and new gutters, covered from falling leaves. I was in charge of the blinds project and met with a salesperson; she came to the house fully protected ... with boots, a face mask and gloves.
Family members visited on Father's Day; we had seen most everyone repeatedly during Carol Baker's funeral and its aftermath, so felt safe with most activities outdoors.
The sons-in-law loaded an old treadmill in our SUV, and we took that to a friend's home in Davenport where it would be collected. I was not able to make successful arrangements to have it picked up in rural Scott County. We stayed to visit with our friends, sitting far apart on the driveway at their home. While we talked, a person with a truck showed up and picked up the old treadmill. Success!
Lunch with girlfriends was arranged in Tipton, Iowa: We bought lunches to a big picnic table outdoors and talked for more than an hour.
Back at home we worked tirelessly to clean up weeds in our lake that prevented us from using the pontoon boat. I pulled out the weeds, put them in piles, and Steve picked up the piles of weeds and trucked them over to the neighborhood compost area. This happened more than 20 times.
The month ended with two therapeutic boat rides, and I also got out in my kayak. The rain we received in late June was the last we'd get, for almost two weeks.
